»ACROSS THE RIVER«

»ACROSS THE RIVER«
A EUROPEAN YOUTH PROJECT SUPPORTED BY THE ERASMUS + PROGRAMME OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
During the 2025/26 season, “Junge.Studio”, in partnership with four other European theatres and in collaboration with the Lößnitzgymnasium Radebeul’s arts programme, ran the Erasmus+ youth project “Across the River”. Since autumn 2025, young people from a wide variety of social backgrounds in Forlì (Italy), Palmela (Portugal), Čakovec (Croatia), Plzeň (Czech Republic) and Radebeul (Germany) have been exploring, through art, the history and stories of the rivers in their home towns and the related contemporary issues of climate change and environmental protection. In April 2026, 25 young people from these five European countries came together at the Landesbühnen Sachsen for a week to get to know one another, exchange ideas and create a large-scale joint performance based on the results of their work. The project culminated in a public performance of the final outcome on 18 April 2026 in the assembly hall of the Lößnitz Gymnasium.

CONNECT UP

CONNECT UP
Theatre for a young audience – Europe-wide and diverse
“No one is born hating other people because of the colour of their skin, their background or their religion,” Nelson Mandela once said. To counteract the growing social and cultural divisions in Europe, partners across Europe – including universities, festivals and theatres – joined forces between 2020 and 2024 to launch the cultural initiative “connect up”. The Landesbühnen Sachsen were one of these partners. The aim of ‘connect up’ was to promote cultural inclusion for people aged 12 and over. Through numerous plays, workshops and innovative formats, participants were able to share experiences with and within the theatre and gain an insight into the lives of others.
